Local 3295 union leaders and members met with key legislators at the beginning of October to discuss hospital staffing challenges, current working conditions, worker safety and solutions for workforce retention including the importance to prioritize the PERs Police and Fire (HB2701) bill this upcoming legislative session that would make a category for employees of the Oregon State Hospital who are in direct contact with patients. These legislators learned what is like to work at the hospital and what you all go through being a state service employee in the current conditions. These conversations help them make decisions when they're voting on bills and doing their legislative work. Want to be a part of the conversation? Check out the "Take Action" tab where we will post lobby days, opportunities to testify about bills, funding and other important issues you're impacted by every day. These testimonies can be submitted in writing or done in person. You can also reach out to your local president or AFSCME representative.
